If I have mentioned this before, please forgive me... I can't remember a thing! Growing up there were two kinds of clean in our house: 'Mommy Clean' and 'Daddy Clean'. "Mommy Clean' was the preferred request, as it entailed simply putting things away, perhaps only out of sight. Under the bed and in the closet were the stash spots for 'Mommy Clean', and you did not go into these places unless you had a death wish.
Well, now that I have my own home, I live in a state somewhere between Mommy and Daddy Clean. There are definitely days that I just sweep a certain amount of mess under the rug, but for the most part I like a good therapeutic scrub down. (Yes, for me scrubbing is good therapy at times, though this would lead my husband to question my sanity...) The reason this all comes up is that my dad is coming to visit, and though it's been a while since we've been under the same roof, I feel a certain amount of pressure for our house to be 'Daddy Clean'. So I've been scrubbing and laundering everything, and frankly, I'm exhausted! But the house feels so nice, and I wonder why I don't clean like this every day.
So here's the question: Do you clean like crazy when people come over? Do you show off the 'fake house', or do you let it all hang out?
