Monday again?

Good morning! We are having a pretty good morning, though I have a coloring bandit around here. I am finding crayon marks all over the furniture... it's a good thing they are washable. How far does one go to excuse/encourage creative expression?

Last week's verse was Romans 5:8:

But God demonstrates his love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

This theme of learning to love is ongoing. Our pastor yesterday began his sermon by asking if anyone other than him sometimes has a hard time loving. I don't know why it continues to take me by surprise, but I am amazed when things seem to line up like this.

I am loving doing these verses with our family. Remy is soaking it all up like the little sponge he is. He pops into conversation with things like 'the gift of God is eternal life' and 'Jesus died for me!'. These precious moments remind me why I am staying home and how valuable it is.  I am still working on my attitude, but I do think things are getting better. Even at 5:30 when the little Halle-bird sings I see my verse next to the sink and remember that little eyes are always watching! Proverbs 23:26 says, 'My son, give me your heart and let your eyes keep to my ways...'. That comes to mind a lot!

For next week I am going to be working on 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. It's kind of a refresher, but I know that I don't know the whole thing, and I keep finding myself at this passage. It's pretty clear what love is (and isn't).

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

  1. My, it's been a few years since we've had a coloring bandit here.

I love your I Corinthians 13 passage. I recently saw where someone put their name in the place of love to personalize this passage. For example:
    "Lora is patient
    Lora is kind
    Lora does not envy, etc.

It was very convicting for me - could I actually say those things about me?

    Blessings to you.

  2. Fantastic passage, and I don't know the whole thing either.

The last coloring bandit I had was about 10 years ago, and it was not washable and on walls. Eek!
