4 Simple Goals (Inspired by *A Beautiful Mess*)

Elsie, from the gorgeous A Beautiful Mess, blogged about coming up with 4 simple goals to be attained before the end of the year. I thought I would jump on board, as with the changing of the seasons I am already in a mindset for getting new things on (then off!) my to-do list. Choosing just four might be the tricky part!

1~ Take more pictures and actually do something with them. I am not a professional photographer (as I'm sure you've noticed...), and I don't aspire to be. But I do feel like I miss a lot going on with our family for lack of knowing where my camera is, and then I download the pictures to my mac and do nothing with them. This one will take some more thought, as I'm not sure what I want to do with the pics just yet, but I'll let you know!

2~ Organize my workspace and make it pretty. I have a wonderful space to the side of our playroom where I work, but it is rather on the boring side. As organized as I am in my homemaking skills, my sewing area tends to get forgotten on the list and things pile up. I really need to spend some time filing paperwork (*dread*), then sorting supplies and making it all look pretty. I'm thinking of using some sweet old records I've collected as my inspiration jumping point, but that's as far ahead as I've thought. Now I just need to jump!

3~ Actually take a family holiday picture. Every year I dream of making this goal a reality, and in the end I chicken out. I do fear that my sweet littles will think that I was strangely absent from their childhoods, as I'm always behind the camera. I have made such huge strides in finding a balanced, healthy lifestyle this year, that I am hoping I can 'suck it up' and make this one a reality.

4~ Go on date nights. Ideally this would be every two weeks, I think, but for now I'm making my goal for once a month. This is something we have only done once or twice since having kids (Gasp...I know!!), and I really hope we can stick to it. One of the awesome perks of youth ministry is that we have a ton of wonderful teenage girls practically begging to watch our wee ones- we have virtually no excuse!

I could truly add about a dozen things to that list, but key for me is making it simple ('So it's not just a clever name.' Can anyone name that movie?!) and attainable. I hope to blog more about them as I accomplish them. Elsie encouraged having a reward upon completion, and I'm not sure what that might be... Hmm, something to think about. What are your goals for the next few months?

  1. Date night. What is that? Hehe. We have your last goal in common. I would love to get out and take a night to reintroduce myself to my husband, since we really haven't been out together much since having kids, either.

Good luck with all your goals, especially that last one :D

  3. Wonderful suggestion-just 4 simple goals.

And, yes, date night is important. I've been married 20 years and we still have date night.

  6. I like your goals! Good luck with them :) I have the same problem with photographs sometimes. They seem to just get lost on the laptop forever.
